Official Instagram statistics were used to find the most famous people from each country, and the latest population numbers were sourced from Census Gov and other official governmental websites.
The study then calculated the difference between the influencer’s follower count and the country’s population.
Additionally, the research provides information on the topic of influence and gender distribution among these top Instagram influencers.
1. Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo tops the list of Instagram influencers whose followings are bigger than the population of their country of origin, with a difference of 617 million people.
The Portuguese football legend is the most followed person on the list and in the world.
2. Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber follows closely in the second position, with a difference of 253 million people.
This Canadian singer is the second most followed male on the list, surpassed only by Cristiano Ronaldo.
3. Zlatan Ibrahimović
Zlatan Ibrahimović ranks fourth on the list of Instagram influencers who have larger followings than the populations of their home countries.
This Swedish footballer has more than 64 million Instagram followers, while Sweden’s population is only 10 million.
4. Kylian Mbappé
Kylian Mbappé claims the fifth place on the list. This French footballer’s Instagram followers exceed the entire population of France by 47 million.
5. Luis Suárez
Luis Suárez is the sixth on the list of Instagram influencers who have larger followings than the populations of their home countries, with 45 million people.
6. Chris Hemsworth
Chris Hemsworth is seventh on the list. This actor’s IG following exceeds the population of his home country, Australia, by 32 million people.
7. Natti Natasha
Natalia Alexandra Gutiérrez Batista, better known by her stage name Natti Natasha, holds the eighth place on the list of Instagram influencers who have larger followings than the populations of their home countries, with 24 million people.
Natasha is from the Dominican Republic, and she is the third singer on the list.
8. Khaby Lame
Khaby Lame is the ninth influencer on the list whose IG following exceeds the population of their country of origin, Italy, with 21 million people.
This Italian gaming video creator is the only person on the list to find fame through social media.
9. David Beckham
David Beckham closes the list of Instagram influencers who have larger followings than the populations of their home countries, surpassing the UK’s population by 19 million people. Beckham is the fourth footballer on this list.
