Uhuru gives reasons for endorsing Raila, tells Ruto to wait.

[ad_1]

President Uhuru Kenyatta has officially endorsed ODM leader Raila Odinga as his preferred successor.

The head of state has declared he will back his handshake mate in the August 9 2022 polls for the sake of the country’s peace stating that the former prime minister had the interest of Kenyans at heart.

While addressing Mt Kenya leaders at the sagana state lodge on Wednesday, February 23, Uhuru has asked his Deputy William Ruto, who is also in the race for presidency to wait.

The commander in chief farther added in his speech that he might one day support Ruto’s presidential bid but only if he changes his ways .

” An old man on a stool sees further than a boy on a tree, let me stick with the old man who I can walk with. Even my friend Ruto can become president someday if he toes the line” said Uhuru.

Uhuru’s move to endorse Raila has not come as a surprise to many Kenyans since it has been clear that he already fell out with his Deputy. The president has also been sending signals that he prefers the Azimio la Umoja candidate by going to inspect some government projects with him and sometimes sending Raila to inspect the projects alone.

Uhuru also noted that he knew there were spies sent from the Tanga Tanga group to the meeting but he was not intimidated by them.

“I know they have even sent people to listen to our conversation but I don’t fear them, we will not mince our words”  KBC quoted Uhuru.
