Gospel singer Veronica Wanja, alias Nicah the Queen is one of the curviest celebrities Kenya has.
The gospel singer came into the limelight after breaking up with her ex-husband Sande Bush, alias Dr Ofweneke over alleged domestic abuse.
Nicah accused the comedian of being wife-batterer, allegations that Dr Ofweneke has never confirmed.
On his side, the comedian who is now dating one Christine Tenderess accused Nicah of being promiscuous.
Away from the showbiz drama, Nicah is the firstborn in a family of four (three girls, one boy), and was raised in Eldoret by a single father after her mother fled the family home when she was barely 10-years-old.
Being the firstborn, the singer had to assume motherly duties after her mother’s departure.
I had to assume motherly duties and I did all house chores at the age of 9. I remember there’s a time I cooked porridge instead of ugali, and my dad ate the meal with so much love,” she said in a past interview.
She revealed that at 15 years old, she had a 26-year-old boyfriend who would shower her with gifts and money.
Nicah was forced to leave her fathers house over constant disagreements with her step-mother.
“I wasn’t happy with the development. My step-mum wanted to feel in charge of her home, at the same time I wasn’t comfortable with that
“My dad got fed up and exerted his authority. He gave me the options of; being in good terms with my step-mum, going back to school, or leaving his house. I refused to go back to school. In the process of finding what to do, I fled home with my baby.”
Nicah has three children, two of whom she shares with Dr Ofweneke.
