Hiltan Kalugho: 94-year-old Man Reunites with Family after Leaving Home in 1980






Hiltan Kalugho has finally returned back home after he disappeared for 42 years.

The 94-years-old man in 1980 left the country in search of greener pastures.

He reunited with his family in Majengo village in Mwateta Taita Taveta County.

During an interview with Nation the old man claimed he wanted a better life for his wife and seven kids but he could not since he had not acquired enough money.

Kalugho noted that he was heartbroken to learn that his wife aged 75, and two of their children had died. His wife passed away in 2007.

“I feel so bad that some of my family members are not here to witness this reunion. I had longed to see my wife and all my children,” said Kalugho.

Back in Tanzania, Kalungo worked as a gemstone miner before he was tasked to take of livestock by another family.

His son Mnjala Mwaluma stated that over the years he unfruitful searched for their father and was later called the pastor to inform him that he had been found.

“Recently I received a call from a pastor telling me my father had been traced in Tanzania. He came with him to Mombasa where we went to meet him,” said MwalumaHiltan Kalugho: 94-year-old Man Reunites with Family after Leaving Home in 1980.
