Homa Bay County Women rep Gladys Wanga on Sunday 13, launched her bid for the county’s gubernatorial seat in the August 9 elections.
Several sitting and aspiring MPs allied to ODM leader Raila Odinga attended the event.
She introduced her husband for the first time to the people and stated the important role she has played in her life.
The county member of parliament further disclosed that she is from Kano, Kisumu County and that her husband, Mr. Wanga is from Homa Bay.
She recounted that her husband saved her from floods that affected that Kano plains.
“Let me bring forward the man who brought here in Homa Bay from Kano. You know in Kano we are occasionally affected by floods that make us start begging for help from the government.
“The man standing next to me is called George Wanga (her husband), he is the man who went through all the troubles to come to our home in Kano, a place where sometimes we are being swept away by floods, and rescued me. I can’t leave this man because of the great things he has done for me,” Mrs Wanga stated.
Mr. Wanga heaped praise to her lovely wife stating that she has been a blessing to him and bears the blessings of the family to run for governor.
He further added that, she is qualified and has what it takes to change and transform the lives of the people of Homa Bay County for the better.
“I am here to inform you that I have released my wife to serve the people of Homa Bay. I want to let everybody know that she has my full support. My only request is that you take care of her,” Mr Wanga stated.
She vowed to fight corruption, improve access to healthcare, create more jobs, and improve education across the county.
