Renowned comedian Eric Omondi on Wednesday, February 8 left netizens surprised after locking himself inside a glass cage with bold writing ‘Play 75 percent’ outside parliament building.
The comedian stated that he aims at lobbing the MPs to debate on increasing the local airplay and content.
According to Eric he wants the MPs to ensure that about 75 per cent of Kenyan music gets played on Kenyan TVs and radios is local content.
“I will remain here until they start the debate. This is a hunger strike,” he said.
The star hired six gigantic men who surrounded the transparent case that had small holes which allowed him to breathe. The cube was locked from outside with a huge padlock and chain.
“I am officially declaring a hunger strike, if I have to stay here for two months, so be it. If I die here of hunger so be it,” Omondi said
Eric already has support from Dagoretti MP John Kiarie who said Omondi’s demands had nothing to do with the Copyright (Amendment) Bill, 2021.
“Eric is championing for 75 per cent of local Kenyan content. So we want to lobby our MPs to be on this course and to champion the course,” he said.
