Does age difference really matter in a relationship?

Many people tend to confuse how maturity and age relate. That age never matters when it comes to love but what matters is the level of maturity in that relationship.

Maturity in a relationship can be defined in many ways and different things.

Many at times love finds us in weird ways, one falls in love and can’t help choose who to love and who not to love. It doesn’t care if someone is younger or older.

But the society do care about age differences causing a lot of stigmatization which apparently make people think it is inappropriate to develop feelings for a person outside their age bracket.

Once a person feels it’s inappropriate to love someone outside their age bracket, they do not give the feelings a chance to explore on it but instead run away from it without understanding the maturity level of the potential lover.

Irregardless of the age bracket whether old or young, maturity varies and it doesn’t necessarily come with age as many people believe .

Maturity is something that develops after experiences we face in life, one doesn’t just magically become mature because they are growing older. One can mature at a very young age, or maybe, they never truly mature.

Experiences happen to people at different times in life, causing some to grow up faster or slower than the normal. One can be in their 20s with the mindset of a 40 year old or vice versa.

The society judges dating outside our age brackets and also expects that we all age and develop at the same rate which is not true.

It might be scary having a 10-year difference in age, but you both are experiencing similar things in life you both want the same thing from the relationship, everything becomes easy. Just like couples who are the same age, if you aren’t on the same page, and maturity amongst you is not portrayed then things will be difficult.

Where there is love age should not be an obstacle to a relationship since age is just but a number and it never matters, what matters most is the maturity in between and love for each other .
